New Client Information
Welcome to our practice
We’re so glad you’re here. Taking the first step toward seeking support is a powerful and courageous decision, and we’re honored to be a part of your journey. Our goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as we work together toward improving your well-being and achieving your goals in therapy. Whether you're facing challenges or seeking growth, we're here to help guide you with care and professionalism. We look forward to partnering with you on this path.
What to Expect
Your first session is all about getting to know you. We’ll take time to understand your unique needs, goals, and concerns, creating a foundation of trust and collaboration. During this initial meeting, we’ll discuss your personal history, what brings you to therapy, and build a shared understanding of what you want to be different in your life as a result of our work together. Together, we’ll develop a tailored plan that aligns with your goals, whether it’s for personal growth, coping strategies, or managing life’s challenges. Our approach is client-centered, and your comfort and well-being are always our priority.
We deeply appreciate the importance of working with a therapist that you feel comfortable with, and that you feel is the right fit for you. If you are still in the process of choosing a therapist to work with, you may find it helpful to read our blog post with tips on how to navigate that process.
How to Prepare for Your First Appointment
Before your first session, it can be helpful to take a moment to reflect on what brings you to therapy and what you’d like to focus on. Completing any intake forms ahead of time will help us dive right in during your appointment. Don’t hesitate to bring any questions or concerns you have—this is your space to explore and grow. Remember, there’s no pressure to share everything right away; simply come as you are, and we’ll guide the process together.
Forms and documents
All forms and documents that need to be completed will be sent to you through a secure client portal with plenty of time for you to review and go over any questions prior to your first appointment. You can always call our office at (540) 824-3272 or email us at info@gofmantherapyandconsulting.com to have your questions answered.
Payment and Insurance Information
While not all of our providers accept insurance directly, we offer out-of-network services and can provide detailed invoices with the necessary codes for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider. As part of your onboarding paperwork, you will be asked to put a payment method of your choice on file through your client portal, which will be used to bill for session costs.
Our fees vary by provider, and we may be able to provide sliding scale options based on financial need and provider availability. We often find that clients who have out-of-network benefits end up being reimbursed for a significant percentage of their session costs. We recommend contacting your insurance company to understand your out-of-network benefits, including any deductibles or reimbursement rates. More information about specific provider fees can be found on each provider’s profile.
For specific questions regarding fees or reimbursement, feel free to contact us directly. We’re here to assist you through the process!
Cancellation Policy
Your appointments are important to us, and the time set aside for your appointment is your time. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance, or missed appointments, may result in a cancellation fee. This policy helps ensure that we can accommodate other clients who may need services.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions about this policy, please feel free to reach out!
Virtual Therapy instructions
All virtual sessions are conducted using Zoom. Your provider will send you a secure link the day of your session that you will be able to easily join from your phone, computer, or other device. Please make sure that you have a working camera and microphone for all sessions, and that you are able to join from a private location where you feel comfortable speaking freely. We also strongly recommend opening Zoom prior to your session, especially if you hadn't used it in a little while, to ensure that any updates can be installed prior to the session start time. If you have any issues or questions about how to join your appointment, you can always contact your provider directly for help.
